Then out round the headland - still misty, but beginning to clear out ..... the interpretation was excellent and although I'm not into history particularly and to be honest my historical knowledge is diabolical I found this really interesting.
Hi - hope you enjoy my blog - it's mainly a day to day, as and when diary, but all cards and pictures etc that I put up are for sale. Search for me on Facebook at Julia Garner Arts.

Hoxa Head, South Ronaldsay....a bog and the war.
A misty, moisty morning and off to Hoxa Headland. We parked up at the parking spot just past Upper Town and what a gorgeous piece of species rich bog - bog asphodel; marsh cinquefoil; marsh ragwort and cottongrass ....and an owl! Then on round the headland and war time remains loomed out of the mist.
Then out round the headland - still misty, but beginning to clear out ..... the interpretation was excellent and although I'm not into history particularly and to be honest my historical knowledge is diabolical I found this really interesting.
