A seashore 'nest'

In preparation for the Moss Hut workshops - see previous post Click here, I have been playing - this 'nest' is based on our favourite happy place - Ardnave Point on Islay. It is made from found objects from the beaches of Islay. Initially I needle felted a hemisphere using a ball as a base. I then removed the ball and wet felted the hemisphere to make it stronger. I then sewed different ribbons in and out of the 'nest'. After that I inserted found objects into the trellis I had created on the exterior of the nest. Finally I sewed raffia in and out of the next adding extra strength and holding the found objects on a bit more. Sheep's fleece was added to the inside before adding the urchin eggs - good fun!
