West Runton

A dismal morning with a promise of clearing, so down to West Runton - site of the famous steppe mammoth excavation. A good walk along a flint beach with plenty of shells in situ in the Upper Freshwater Bed at the foot of the cliff. We found a few belamnites on the beach, but alas no mammoth teeth!

Plenty of large lumps of flint - looking towards Cromer.

Flint within the chalk.
