Tarn Hows, Coniston and Black Crag

A day trip down south - having set off early to ensure we got a car parking spot we started by parking at the Glen Mary car park on the side of the main road, below Tarn Hows. From there we walked up to Tarn Hows before peeling off towards Iron Keld and on to Black Crag. A small but enjoyable Wainwright. It was rather more busy when we returned than when we left, but the unexpected delight was the waterfalls when we descended down through the woodland to Glen Mary - which were still in spate after Tuesday and Wednesday's rainfall.

Tarn Hows

Cloud beginning to clear from Coniston Old Man.

Summit view across to Windermere. There has been a lot of larch die-back in this area so much of the larch is being removed to try to keep what trees are left unaffected.

Rocky - now with 47 Wainwrights left to do.

Returning to Tarn Hows where the path is one way - clockwise around the tarn as a Covid measure.

Returning down to the car park - pretty waterfalls.
