After seeing the Autumn lady's-tresses at Silverdale, we went on to Gait Barrows NNR. We had planned to see the brown hairstreak, but sadly the weather wasn't compliant! Nothing was flying at all....butterfly wise. There were lots of berries, nuts and general signs that autumn isn't too far away. While photographing I realised this all seemed familiar and that last year's blog for Gait Barrows included a compilation of berry/nut photographs! Click here
Autumn is on the horizon... |
Classic limestone pavement.
A very late broad-leaved helleborine. |
Good to see the Lady's slipper orchid leaves as they were absent earlier in the year ...presumably too droughted to appear. |
