Slight Side from Eskdale

Another Wainwright for Rocky the dog! We parked opposite Wha House farm in Eskdale and followed the obvious path up through some lovely undulating  boggy and rocky areas up towards Cat Crag. Then heading north across the top of Catcove Beck we made our way to an obvious large boulder before taking the path up to the summit. The summit was gorgeous. Wainwright described it as a 'sting in the tail', which I took to mean a slog up a hidden second summit, but no, a great little scramble over large rocks which was fun. Coming back navigating across the undulating boggy areas wasn't so easy, as we lost and then kept finding the path again, but looking at the number of little paths we weren't the only ones to have done this!

Herdwicks on the way up.

A nice boggy area.

Looking up to Slight Side.

Looking across to Great Gill Head Crag.

Snoozing!

Rocky on the summit.

Looking back up to the summit.

Looking back down the way we had come ...to where we were going to get slightly lost.
