Lamonby verges

In this heat we didn't want to travel far, or walk far, so a trip to Lamonby seemed a good option. It's frightening how quickly the flowers and season are going over. The orchids, especially the marsh fragrants were spectacular, but they deserve a post of their own.

The verge with lots of twayblade.

Marsh fragrant orchids

Meadowsweet; betony; red clover and greater burnet.

Favourites of mine: sneezewort and sawwort.

Small skippers ....there were lots.

Small skipper.

Meadow cranesbill.

Ladies bedstraw, knapweed and betony.

Betony.

A quick shot - no time to focus of a flock of lapwing.
