This year, while trying to see 200 species of wild birds in Britain, Twite have eluded us. So when we went to the Mull of Oa and they were on the bird feeders at the RSPB carpark - result! What was even better was to see them alongside Linnets so that we could get a really good comparison and to grips with their identification features. Apart from the fact they really are very stripey, brown and do not have a grey head or light cheek patch - the majority on Islay are ringed, to monitor their population.
