Whitbarrow

Last Saturday we had a day down in south Cumbria. We started at Whitbarrow where the unexpected highlight was a swarm of bees in hawthorn bush ....on  the windswept summit.

The summit bees!

The top of Whitbarrow.

Looking into Central Lakes.

Dark red helleborines.

Grayling, high brown fritillary and northern brown argus.

Harebell; dropwort; small scabious; broad-leaved helleborine in bud; eye-bright with thyme
and biting stonecrop.

A spleenwort and hart's-tongue fern.

Juniper and sloes.
