Caldbeck to Hesket Newmarket - bluebells

After our walk round Buttermere, we grabbed a quick lunch at home, before walking from Caldbeck to Hesket. It hasn't moved on that much since our visit two weeks ago, but the bluebells were just coming into flower ...a nice haze of blue. A welcome pint in the Old Crown, where the new outdoor shelter proved it's worth. Great to meet up with so many friends!

Wood anemones and celandines are still providing a spectacular display.

A bluebell carpet...

Cuckoo flower / ladies smock...but no orange tip butterflies today!

Herb Paris ...nearly out...

Wild garlic - so far behind!

It seems ot be a good year for Goldilocks buttercup.

A spectacular early purple orchid.
