Finglandrigg NNR

A couple of days ago we went down to Fingland to see if the marsh fritillary butterflies were flying - they were and  the orchids were spectacular too. A lovely adder was out too, sunning itself.

Northern marsh orchids by the roadside carpark.

Enjoying the sun!

The meadow is beginning to colour up.

The marsh frits are on the wing.

Ragged robin and forget-me-nots.

A beautiful adder.

Across the heath.

The heath spotted orchids are spectacular this year ...and below.
