Eycott Hill

On the way home from Smardale at the weekend, we called in at Eycott. Being as I had seen a marsh fritillary caterpillar there  earlier in the year click here I am keen to see an adult. Although the marsh fritillaries are towards the end of their season at Finglandrigg, Eycott is at a higher altitude and way behind Finglandrigg. So there's time yet! No sign at the moment of any fritillaries though - of any species - so I will keep popping back - the site is good for small-pearl bordered fritillaries. Coronation meadow  though was at its best! Just beautiful.

Foxglove with Blencathra.

Coronation meadow.

Small heath butterfly.

Ragged robin, heathspotted orchid; bugle, bog bean and cranberry.

A personal favourite - marsh cinquefoil.

Coronattion meadow.

Belted galloways.
