High Force to Cronkley Fell

After we had walked up to High Force we continued on to Cronkley Fell....nice to see a ring ouzel, lovely to walk  the 'Green Trod' and even better to find the Teesdale violet ...after all the times I've looked! The hoary rock rose in the enclosures was stunning and it was good to see probably the last gentian of the year ...together with bird's-eye primrose!

White Force was hardly a force!

Looking down the Green Trod.

Cushions of leadwort.

Hoary rockrose.

Spring gentian, bird's-eye primrose, tway blade and common rockrose.

Mountain everlasting; alpine bistort and mountain avens in bud.

The Teesdale violet - with plenty of hairs on the underside of the leaves.

The juniper ...a big old tree.

Dramatic skies on our return.
