Low Force to High Force

On Sunday we had a great day walking from Bowlees to Low Force and along the Pennine way up to High Force, before continuing up onto Cronkley Fell. Far too many photographs, as always on this walk, so I will follow on with a couple of blogs about different aspects of the walk. The riverside flowers were absolutely stunning as always - with lots of wood crane's-bill, pig nut, many, many heath spotted orchids as well as northern marsh and common spotted. The globe flowers and mountain pansies were perfect and deserve separate blogs of their own. The melancholy thistle is in bud and there are still cuckoo flower out as well as marsh marigold. There was even wild garlic still out in the wood at Low Force. We arrived reasonably early - getting a roadside parking space at Bowlees and  there was no one at Low Force. It was a different story on our return at 4 OClock!

High Force....possibly the lowest I have seen it.

Looking down High Force - showing a ledge that you can't normally see....
