A quiet day (feeling rubbish after second covid jab), so walked up to Headend quarry to check on the state of the fragrant orchids. Fabulous weather and views.
Across to Criffel. |
...and across to Skiddaw. |
The fragrant orchids are just coming out ...and the twayblades are looking good. |
Red campion and guelder rose on the way up to the quarry. |
Ox-eye daisies and wild strawberries (yum!). |
Flowers on the cliff face ...nice to have bird's-foot trefoil; kidney vetch and hop trefoil all in the same photo - right. |
The hawthorn is beginning ot turn pink as it goes over. |
A bumble bee mimick - look at the wings. |
