Fragrant orchid check - Headend quarry

A quiet day (feeling rubbish after second covid jab), so walked up to Headend quarry to check on the state of the fragrant orchids. Fabulous weather and views.

Across to Criffel.

...and across to Skiddaw.

The fragrant orchids are just coming out ...and the twayblades are looking good.

Red campion and guelder rose on the way up to the quarry.

Ox-eye daisies and wild strawberries (yum!).

Flowers on the cliff face ...nice to have bird's-foot trefoil; kidney vetch and hop trefoil all in the same photo - right.

The hawthorn is beginning ot turn pink as it goes over.

A bumble bee mimick - look at the wings.
